After weeks of wondering if Senator Bernie Sanders would ever abandon his quest for President of the United States, he finally formally endorsed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for President.
Sanders made the announcement on Tuesday, July 12 with Clinton by his side.
“If you don’t believe this election is important, take a moment to think about the Supreme Court justices that Donald Trump will nominate, and what that means to civil liberties, equal rights and the future of our country,” said Sanders.
Sanders and Clinton were sometimes at odds on the issues facing voters today. That divide was addressed during the announcement.
“There was a significant coming together between the two campaigns and we produced…the most progressive platform in the history of the Democratic Party,” said Sanders.
“Together, let’s go win this election,” tweeted Hillary Clinton after the announcement.
